Meson Solarejo is a classic Toledo restaurant and tapas bar nestled in the heart of Plaza Solarejo, serving a broad spectrum of traditional Castilian and Spanish dishes. It’s the kind of spot where locals and visitors alike come for hearty meals reflecting regional favorites like paella, carcamusas, and croquetas, all enjoyed in a straightforward, no-frills setting.

The atmosphere here leans toward comfortable and casual rather than trendy — an indoor space that provides welcome relief from summer heat with air conditioning, making it a practical stop during warmer months. The friendly service attitude found among the staff helps keep the vibe relaxed, even when the place fills up.

This mid-size restaurant suits groups looking to share larger plates like the Paella Mixta or the Tapa de Croquetas de Rabo de Toro, as portions are generous enough to split. It’s also a good fit for anyone wanting to sample a variety of tapas classics side-by-side, from the Salpicon de Marisco to Huevos Rotos con Jamón. Sangria and local wines appear commonly on the tables, pairing well with the rich, savory flavors.

Meson Solarejo shines particularly for those chasing authentic regional specialties—Toledo bean soup and paella de marisco come recommended by regulars. While some visitors find the paella unremarkable, dishes like their fried squid and Spanish tortilla receive solid appreciation, reflecting a dependable, traditional kitchen rather than a culinary experiment.

The place works well for lunch or dinner, especially for travelers who want to pause in a central spot to taste local fare amid town square buzz. Although the team’s English might be limited and the approach no-nonsense, the experience remains genuine, focused on delivering straightforward comfort food representative of Castilla-La Mancha’s culinary landscape.

Staff was incrediblh friendly. We sat on the inside to cool off in the AC. Ordered some sangria, a salad and a paella. Portions are a good size so you can definitely share. Everything was delicious!!!

I went here to enjoy breakfast at years of central Madrid close to Calle de atoucha, they speak little English and not too friendly and the scrambled eggs had a distinct smell to it but that maybe just me being too picky otherwise it was quick and they were attentive.
